More info on this, from organizer Sander Hicks:

On 9/11, we're doing something new because so much is happening for our movement. This event will honor the dead and stand up for the truth. The event will be from 6:30 to 9:30 PM in the 500 capacity main Friends Meeting House of the 15th St. Society of Friends ("Quakers") in Manhattan. This is a beautiful historic site and has a long tradition of radical peace-making. Speaking truth to power. Connecting with the universal light that is in everyone's heart. Some traditions call it Buddha nature, and some call it Christ within, or the Divine, or you can just call it the truth we revere, and hold dear, and work to make further revealed.

Let's make this event powerful for the work that we need to do in this year to come.

We're going to sit together for a period of prayerful silence, there's going to be an hour of free sharing from people who feel called to share, and there were also be some people who will be invited to give a few longer talks. We are inviting speakers now. We will have a microphone and amplified sound. I've invited people from  Progressive Jewish congregations, the Mennonite Church, Catholic Worker, and the local Zen Zendos. I'm working with local political activists as well.

Will be planning a conference call on this this Wednesday, Aug. 22 - please contact Sander by responding to this email, to get involved.

The New York Megaphone is Back.
Help Re-Launch an Independent Newspaper!
The Megaphone was originally published in 2005-2008 by a team of "Citizen journalists pursuing the unreported story" as a part of the Vox Pop coffeehouse community, in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. Publisher Sander Hicks has won awards from the independent publishing community for his courageous stand against the Bush Family and corporate media conformity. Hicks is relaunching the Megaphone in 2018 in order to get the truth out there!

The new Megaphone will have a 100,000 unit print run. It will promote and support important independent journalism: including Deep State exposure, new paths to peace in the Middle East, the Lawyers Committee for 9/11 Inquiry, free speech in an age of corporate media censorship, etc.

The Megaphone will support the independent US Congressional campaign of publisher Sander Hicks, running for US Congress against centrist Democrat Carolyn Maloney (Nov. 6 is the election).

To join a conference call about this project this Tuesday Night, Aug 21, please respond to this email.
